When you try to move your domain names to safety from VeriSign (the company who borged Network Solutions in June 2000), VeriSign will send a "confirmation request" to which the recipient must respond within 96 hours, otherwise VeriSign will - regardless of the agreement you will already have signed with the new registrar - not allow the transfer.
VeriSign is clearly desperate to make it as difficult as possible for domain owners to jump through the confirmation hoops:
